Right now, a lot of us are looking for ways we can help each other and now there is free support to help you do that in Ryedale. Community Catalysts have recently launched an exciting new coaching scheme in Ryedale to support people to work for themselves offering help at home to their neighbours. You might offer personal care, help with shopping, cooking or companionship. You can start your own small business from scratch or expand a business that you already run.
Working for yourself offering help at home means you
✅ can work locally,
✅ help your community,
✅ earn a good hourly rate, and
✅ work hours that suit you and your family.
Take advantage of the free coaching available from local Catalyst Kathy. This is your opportunity to make a positive change. Kathy says,
“We have ten years’ experience in helping people to set up successful enterprise that help their communities. We can help you set up right now – or in the near future. We get all sorts of people wanting to offer help at home, from former social workers to nutritionists, family carers and teachers. And my support is totally free to individuals.”
Kelly runs her own small business offering help at home. She is a mum of three, spent 15 years as a senior trade manager and had her own childminding business.
“The benefits for me are I can work around my own childcare responsibilities. My favourite part of running my own business offering help at home is how extremely rewarded I feel. I’ve always enjoyed helping people and I feel privileged to be accepted into my customers’ homes. I think people underestimate what that must feel like, to acknowledge you need help and accept someone into your home. I am privileged to help them, I get strength from what they go through, they are inspirational.
I started my small business up after I went to a careers advisor and she told me about the Community Catalysts development programme. I went and met the local Catalyst and we had a few meetings. Before I knew it, I had my own company again, working full time. I am working 30 hours a week. That’s what suits my family.”
