‘Sewerby Squirrels’ – held at Sewerby Hall and Gardens for under fives and their families – is held in the Orangery on Mondays from 10am -11.30am, during East Riding term-time, and there are more sessions in January.
All the sessions feature themed activities for Under 5s, based on seasonal events, Edwardian life, and exhibits which are on display at Sewerby Hall. Each session includes books to read, a sensory area and quiet corner.
The session on Monday, 7 January looks at Edwardian kitchen life, when the Squirrels can come and have a go at using a jelly mould, play with bread dough and get messy with flour.
On Monday, 14 January, the theme will be Sea-themed craft, when the Squirrels will be able to make a starfish to take home.
Monday, 21 January will be on the theme of Garden Explorers. The Squirrels will enjoy garden-themed toys and learn about the famous Monkey Puzzle Trees in the gardens.
The final session of the month will be on Monday, 28 January when the activity will be all about Edwardian Tea Parties. This will be a chance for the Squirrels to come and share role play tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits and fruit with friends.
