The Easter holidays run from 23rd March to 7th April 2024 and we’ve put together this handy list of free or low cost activities around Ryedale.
Dalby Forest – Offers over 8,000 acres of woodland to explore, enjoy and discover. Great play area for children, accessible walking and cycling trails for all. Cafes and play areas. The Gruffalo Trail – Discover giant Gruffalo sculptures, or have a go at a Gruffalo orienteering course. You can also download our fantastic free Gruffalo resources for fun in the forest and at home. Pickering Book Tree have two authors visits – Merlin Finds His Magic with Grace Olson on Wednesday 27th March @2pm and Pony Activities with Cressida Burton on Wednesday 3rd April @11am. Drop in anytime from Saturday 16th March to complete fun themed activity sheets! Every Saturday at 11am we read a picture book in the cosy children’s area of the shop. Helmsley Walled Garden – Easter Trail – Updated information for 2024 coming soon. Crafts, games and prizes. Reduced adult entry, children free.
Thornton-Le-Dale Easter Trail – runs from 22nd March to 14th April 2024. Spot the little bunnies in the village business windows in Thornton le Dale. Buy your trail from Wardill Bros for £5.
Middleton & Aislaby Easter Fair – 29th March 2024 11am – 4pm. Fun, games, raffle, tombola, easter bunny. Free entry. Main St, Middleton, Pickering YO18 8PB
Local Libraries – the libraries often have some Easter themed activities for kids over the school holidays, contact your nearest one for more information.
Malton Library have a free Digital Microbit trail running as well as an Easter fun printmaking session and a free rap workshop. More details HERE

National Park Centres – Constellation Rubbing Trail and Notice Nature Trail at Danby Lodge and Sutton Bank National Park Centre. Plus lots of other activities, find out more here.
Active Coast – Lots of free activities from over the holiday including Beach Multisports, Calming Play and Create, Coastal Explorers, Dance Sessions, and Sand and Stone Art Workshops. Updated information for 2024 coming soon, customers of Morrisons can come into our cafe any day before 11am and get a free bowl of cereal. They just need to mention the Kellogg’s Breakfast Club. No age limit, and customers can come back on multiple days whilst stocks last. There are 50,000 breakfasts set aside across the country.
