It’s panto time once again and Pickering Musical Society are performing their annual production at the Kirk Theatre. Last night (Friday 12th January) was the opening night and the 2018 show did not disappoint.
This year, it is Goldilocks & The Three Bears. The story follows the traditional tale with a few twists and turns including a brief trip to the North Pole.
The set is amazing and the costumes fantastic. Dame Trott has a particularly extensive wardrobe! Whilst Daddy Bear’s hair defies gravity!
The singing and dancing was brilliant, every member of the cast performed to their best and it was lovely to see so many younger children involved, having a great time. Sarah Louise Ashworth’s Dance School have every reason to be very proud, it was a very polished performance. Our children loved the dancing, with our daughter captivated by the steps and particularly the Teddy Bears. Our son, thought the Skeletons were “just awesome”.
Sisters, Alice Rose as Goldilocks and Imogen Rose as Prince Edwin sang beautifully throughout whilst Marcus Burnside was great as Dame Trott and Matthew Russel is a natural as her son and village idiot, Simple Simon, who does a memorable John Travolta impression! Paula Paylor, made an excellent Forest Fairy.
It is a great performance to take all the family to, young and old. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you do too.
The production is running until Saturday the 20th, tickets can still be bought the via the Kirk Theatre box office on 01751 474833 or via the website www.kirktheatre.co.uk.
Ticket prices start at £12 with a family ticket priced at £44 (2 adults & 2 children).
