Ryedale Mumbler has received review for a half term cup cake decorating class. They are running Saturday 26th October 10-11.30am, Wednesday 30th October 10-11.30am, Thursday 31st October 10-11.30am
On Saturday Toby took part in a fantastic cupcake decorating session run by Sarah at Islay Rose Cakes. The sessions are suitable for children age 3+ and although we had a variety of different ages up to 10, Sarah tailored the session towards all ages and abilities and everybody had a great time and managed to achieve 6 beautiful Halloween cupcakes in the 1.5 hour session. When we arrived there was a very professional work station set up for each child, with tools and different coloured fondant icing. They also had a presentation box to decorate.
Sarah worked through each topper first, demonstrating how to make them. Once we had our pumpkin, spider, witch’s hat and scary faces ready it was time to learn how to pipe icing to complete the masterpieces. Everything was orange, purple, orange, green or black so the cupcakes were perfect for Halloween.
There was a lovely chilled atmosphere while the kids concentrated on their designs. Sarah has 3 young children of her own and many years of experience as a secondary school teacher, so has an excellent manner with the children and is able to explain each step in a calm and clear way. Toby was extremely proud of his creations and immediately decided who he was going to give each one to. I would thoroughly recommend the classes for any creative children, whether they have done cake decorating before or not. Sarah is running 3 more sessions over the half-term holiday, but be quick because places are booking up fast!
Suitable for children aged 3 and up. Refreshments for children and their adult provided. £15 per child for this spooky experience.
