North Yorkshire Water Park is at Wykeham Lakes, near Scarborough. They offer a range of watersport activities including stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, open water swimming, sailing, canoeing and the inflatable aquapark.
We were lucky enough to be invited down to enjoy the paddle boarding, kayaking and the aquapark. It was a fantastic day. The park is well laid out with good, clean facilities. Everything is accessible and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Even the weather was nice! There is so much to do here, you won’t be disappointed. Alternatively, if you would just like to bike or walk in beautiful surroundings, perhaps with a coffee after, this is the ideal place. You pay for each activity rather than to enter so perfect for Grandparents to come watch as well. There is also an on-site meeting and function room called 251 Squadron Room which can be booked by calling 01723 865052.
The equipment was good quality and in good condition with a good selection of sizes available. Short wetsuits are standard but you can upgrade to a long wetsuit for £5. All the prices are listed HERE
There is a lot of space so even though it was a Sunday with good weather, there was plenty of space and it didn’t feel too busy. The cafe had a nice selection with lovely coffee and great post activity food, ie pizza, burgers, paninis etc! There is also a great selection of ice cream flavours which was a big hit!
Henry and Eliza have written little reviews below. We had a wonderful time as a family. We could all get involved and have fun. Both kids are strong swimmers and are provided with buoyancy aids and helmets (where required). Eliza did get a bit tired when swimming between the inflatables so she jumped on my back for a lift!
On Sunday 26th September, we went to North Yorkshire Water Park, we had a great time. My favourite part was the inflatable aqua park which had loads of cool slides and a climbing wall which was really hard. The best slide was the Jungle Joe which had a pyramid you had to climb then you went down a big slide, flying into the water! The biggest slide was the Peak Express where you had to climb big steps then go down a ginormous slide.
As well as the aqua park, we had a go at paddle-boarding and kayaking. The paddle boarding was good and I managed to stand up. I found it a bit tricky getting back to shore though…Mummy rescued me!
For the kayaking, we had a boys team and a girls team which was also fun. The boys team definitely went faster. Mummy didn’t appear to be trying very hard!
Afterwards we had lunch, we had a big pizza and chips. You can bring a picnic though if you prefer. Don’t worry about bringing a wetsuit as they were provided but if you wanted a long-sleeved wetsuit it would cost an extra £5. – Henry (9)
Eliza also wanted to explain what she liked.
We had a really nice day. I love swimming and playing in water. The paddle board was so good. I shared with Mummy as I felt happier doing that. I was very pleased though as I managed to stand up. I also went on a double kayak with Mummy. I was at the front so I was in charge! My favourite was the aqua park, it was so much fun! I really liked the Jungle Joe, the bouncy pillow, the swing and the assault course. I beat Mummy in an assault course race! – Eliza (6)
We will definitely be back after a wonderful day out.

**For the purpose of this review, we did receive the activities at no cost but did pay for the food and other additionals. This is an honest reflection of our findings.
