After a little break for half term and some family time, it’s back to riding out. I have been riding out daily at Tim Easterby’s, between 2 and 6 horses depending on whether I have to do the school run and the horses training programme. I’ve now been on some flat horses so it is all creeping closer. Less than a 100 days….eek!
I have had two equicizer sessions at Jack Berry House with Russ Garrity. It’s all about working on technique and in my opinion, trying to kill us! Pushing a plastic mechanical horse is an average experience at best but well worth it! And boy is it good for fitness. It will hopefully all be worth it in the final two furlongs and throughout the race when we can perform to the best of our ability.
I have had a massive blister on my finger – Eliza described it as gross! That Equicizer – I didn’t forget my gloves the second time! As for my shin….I have a hole in it created my a stirrup leather rub – ouch! I have found that Compeed plasters are my best friend! My pain no gain hey!
The fundraising continues. The Mumbler Awards have launched on both Ryedale Mumbler and Scarborough Mumbler with nominations coming in thick and fast… Across the two websites, these awards have raised over £2,000 in sponsorship, all of which is for Macmillan! It is a great way to say thank you to your “favourite” provider so please nominate them. The top 5 will then go to another public vote to get the winner in June.
Bucket shaking at the Sinnington Point to Point with one “borrowed” helper, who was brilliant, helping us collect approx £200. The weather was appalling but we braved it! One low moment in my fundraising “career” was Henry spinning round in the mud, going head first into a puddle and the lid coming off his bucket. I found myself picking coins out the mud whilst the queue to get out grew longer…
The Nearly New Sale in Norton, Malton went well, despite the weather’s best efforts to have it’s say. It raised over £500 and my little helpers were very much in action once again, on the book table and the tombola. I couldn’t have managed without my grown up helpers too! Thank you
Lucky Squares have been in action too – Henry took a Teddy to school and a team of friends sold the squares, plus we have had Peppa Pig on the go and Piglets Adventure Farm, The Balloon Tree, Cedarbarn Farm Shop, Wildsmiths, Tong Garden Centre and Rickshaw have very kindly supported.
Malton Relish Supper Club has proved very popular and promises to be a good night. We have a number of private events too in the planning as well as the Macmillan Family Fun Day at Cedarbarn Farm Shop & Miniature Railway on Friday 17th April. This promises to be a great day for ALL and f you would like to be involved in the latter, please do let me know…
As I have been working hard to achieve my goals, the reason behind it has been brought into stark reality this week. My friend of 25 years, passed away aged 38 after a brave battle with cancer. This makes me more determined to reach and exceed my target – I so want to make her proud.
At the time of writing, I have raised over £6,000. Looking at what this money can buy means I have raised enough money to pay for a nurse for 5 weeks, a Macmillan support worker for a week and for 200 copies of The Cancer Guide. Please do help me provide more of this vital support and care to the families of Yorkshire by sponsoring me HERE
