23rd October – 31st October 2021

6pm – 9pm

Cast light on a dark history this Halloween! See Bram Stoker’s inspiration in a new light as Whitby Abbey is bathed in dramatic illuminations once again. Have your camera at the ready as you explore the gothic splendour of the ruins lit up with all the colours of the rainbow.
Join us as we celebrate the season of all things supernatural. Seek out our Victorian characters as they try to deal with a force beyond their control that has been unleashed on Whitby.
What is it? Can it be reasoned with? What does it want? Can you help our characters stop it before it takes over the Abbey and begins its reign of terror?

Along with fantastic performances and incredible illuminations, you can also enjoy a range of delicious food and drink. Tuck into locally-sourced fish and chips from Fuscos or grab a burger and sausage sandwich made with local meats. For pudding, head over to the fire pits for toasted marshmallows and stay hydrated by popping to the trailer bar, for a hot gin, hot chocolate or hot mead!

Please be aware the abbey closes for general admission at 5pm and will re-open at 6pm for Illuminated Abbey.

6.15pm – 7.30pm

Become a seeker of knowledge; meet the Scientist, the Hunter, the Zealot, the Lost Soul & the Stranger. Follow the Wraiths as they guide you around the ruins – will you heed their warnings and who is the Stranger?

Repeated at 7.45pm – 9.00pm

The abbey will be lit up with illuminations all evening and food and drink will be available throughout.

Advanced booking is 10% cheaper than the walk up price of tickets.
