Meet St Nicholas and Lady Winter in their Yuletide grottos this Christmas 2020.
Our St Nicholas mirrors the Father Christmas of the past. Dress warmly, and gather, socially distanced, in the Northwood kitchen courtyard – where there will be a fire – or in the courtyard marquee. Enjoy a glass of hot punch, alcoholic and non-alcoholic available, before being taken to the woodland grotto to make a wish with Lady Winter and then meet St Nicholas in his grotto for a short story with the very experienced story teller. Aimed at the whole family.
Please be aware, if you are looking for a red Santa Claus this isn’t it! This Christmas event will be an atmospheric Christmas of stories, lanterns and imagination. Children won’t receive a toy but something more meaningful and symbolic instead, a wishing stone as well as chocolate coin. Event runs on: 5th and 6th, 12th and 13th December, 17th to 23th December 2020. At 12noon, 1.30, 3.00 and 4.30pm.
To comply with Covid guidelines, each story session with St Nicholas can hold up to 40 people max, tickets are sold by the “table” that can hold up to 5 (i.e. 8 tables socially distanced in the marquee grotto). The table ticket price is £115 for 5 people (£23pp) and includes the fairy trail ticket, fairy museum with fairy winter display, and like last year includes a magic pebble for making a wish in Lady winters well (virucidally cleaned). Please note – as a small business, there will be no refunds if the sessions cannot take place due to Covid-19, they will instead be deferred to Christmas 2021.
Father Christmas will be flying around the surrounding villages of Malton….

Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to and therefore, it is proposed that Santa will doing his rounds on a “Drive-By” system. He will not be stopping to make contact with anyone. Donations can be make online – do keep watching the website and social media for notifications as things could change at the very last minute due to the ongoing situation.
Things are a little different at Murton Park in 2020, Santa has decided to have a ‘staycation’ there will be lots to see and do in a safe way with reduced number and one-way systems in place. Your experience will start with you entering Santa’s village. You will meet Santa’s elves as you walk through the village past their houses and workshops.
You will then arrive at the Santa’s log cabin for an audience with the big man himself. To ensure social distancing in here there is a maximum of 5 people per booking. We also ask that all those over the age of 11 (unless exempt) wear face coverings whilst in with Santa. You will then be able to warm yourself by the fire as you wander through Santa’s house. Then you will say goodbye to the village on your way to the Magic Toy Shop where children will be able to choose an early present with the Christmas money they will have received from Santa. There will be Bird of Prey flying demonstrations and the opportunity to hold the birds (assuming coronavirus rules do not change).
Adults will all receive a mince pie and children reindeer food specially made by Mother Christmas herself for you take home and put out on Christmas Eve. You will also be able to purchase hot and cold drinks and other sweet treats.
The Farmhouse Kitchen café will be open as usual selling a lovely range of snacks, hot and cold drinks and light meals. The playground will be open but we do ask that hands are sanitised and different households do not mix. Finally, there will be an opportunity to visit our giftshop where there are a range of gift ideas available.
As always, there are lots of ways you can help the NSPCC this Christmas – and with everything that’s going on, your support is more important to us than ever!

This takes place on 23rd December and is a fabulous little event on the build up to Christmas. The zoom link is free with a suggested donation of £5.
Merry Christmas from everyone at the NSPCC!
Ryedale Lions are delighted with the success of their Santa’s Sleigh tour in what has been a most unusual year with many challenges and changes.
Buckets on tinsel wrapped poles instead of knocking on doors, Santa behind a screen with a microphone instead of children on knees, arranged stops in towns and villages instead of visiting every street, quarantining monies for 72 hours, internet for cashless donations, nothing has got in the way of Santa carrying out his traditional tour of Ryedale
Ryedale Lions President, Frank Hayward, said “ We know how important Santa’s sleigh is to local communities and children and are over the moon that we have been able find a way to make it happen. In addition to the joy the sleigh brings, the funds raised will all go to help local charities and good causes, so a huge thank you to everyone who has donated”
Sleigh Organiser Ben Hayes added “ This has been a tremendous effort by fellow Lions and the friends who have rallied round to help with the sleigh. The support from residents has been amazing and we look forward to a more normal programme next Christmas.”
Ben went on “ Our Rudolph tracker has been a big hit enabling everyone to plan their time and keep up with Santa’s movements”
Collections this year have raised £4,250 with donations still coming in
Frank said “ This is a fantastic achievement in the circumstances, thank you everyone”
There is still the opportunity to support Ryedale Lions through our Just Giving page https://justgiving.com/campaign/Ryedalelions
We wish you all a very Happy Christmas!
