Yorkshire Arboretum Summer Activities

The Yorkshire Arboretum offers 120 acres of peace and tranquillity in the heart of North Yorkshire. Experience exceptional natural beauty, a botanically diverse tree collection, sweeping vistas and wildflower meadows. The Arboretum Café serves delicious home-cooked food using locally-sourced ingredients – open all day. Dogs welcome, with an 11-acre off-lead area.

Nature Rangers Day (booking essential, suitable for aged 5yrs and above. £15 per child, must be accompanied by an adult – Adult admission free.)

Indoor and outdoor activities to explore the arboretum and learn about the creatures we share it with. There will be hands on activities to do, so bring a bag to take your creations home with you. We recommend bringing a packed lunch or money for lunch in the Arboretum Café.

 

Pond Dipping (Drop-in session – no booking required)

  • Tuesday 1st August   – 10am, 11am, 1pm & 2pm

Come and dip for creatures/invertebrates in our lake with our education team. Look for the creatures that hide in the water plants at the edge of our lake.

 

Mini Beast Hunt (Drop-in session – no booking required)

  • Tues 15th August – 10am, 11am, 1pm & 2pm

Look for and identify mini beasts with our education team. Identify creatures that hide under logs and stones.

 

Bat Fest (Drop-in session – no booking required)

  •    Sat 19th August

Bat information display; local bat expert Q&A, Bat finger puppet making, Bat mask making, colouring sheets.

 

DON’T FORGET TO VISIT OUR RED SQUIRREL ENCLOSURE – a chance to see our very own Red Squirrels in their new habitat.
