Elmer the Elephant

May 28, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is 30 years old this year, and there will be a chance for all children up to seven years old to join East Riding Libraries during the May half term holiday.
David McKee’s children’s picture book, ‘Elmer’ was first published in 1989 and tells the story of a patchwork multi-coloured elephant and his adventures with friends, with an underlying theme of celebrating diversity. Thirty-nine book titles have been created since then, and the series has sold over eight million copies in fifty languages around the world.
Penny Chaloner, librarian, said: “These free events in East Riding Libraries will be a chance for us all to celebrate our own true colours with the brand new book, ‘Elmer’s Birthday’ and fun activities.”
Children are welcome to dress in bright colours to celebrate the theme.
