Please be aware; this is purely a listing service. None of the child carers or their qualifications have been checked out or verified by Ryedale Mumbler. Ryedale Mumbler does not endorse or recommend any of these child carers and parents are required to make their own enquiries and check references. Please see our full terms and conditions. Contact us here if you are a nursery, preschool, childminder, nanny or babysitter and would like to be included in this listing.
Private Day Nurseries. These are OFSTED registered privately run nurseries which usually offer a variety of different sessions. Usually they are open from 8am to 6pm although some may do extended hours, and are open throughout the year other than public holidays.
Pre-Schools usually offer sessional care for children from the age of 2 to 5. They often work only in term-time, and in most cases offer funded provision for 3 and 4 year olds. They will be OFSTED registered and you can usual pay for top up sessions if you need more than the funded sessions. These are often but not always attached to a pre-school although attendance does not guarantee a place at the primary school.
Registered Childminders These are OFSTED regulated childcare professionals who look after children in their own home. They are usually flexible and may be able to offer school drop offs and pick ups. Hours will vary however most will do at least 8.30am-5.30pm.
Nannies & Baby Sitters. These carers are not necessarily OFSTED registered and would look after your children in your own home. Prices and experience varies greatly so do your research and get recommendations from people that you know well.
In line with Government guidance on COVID-19 and the recommendation to avoid gatherings and crowded places, many of our local family days out are looking at closing to the public. For any of the listings on here please check with the venue if it is open or closed before attending.
I am endeavouring to keep the listings as up to date as possible but please check with venues first, thanks for your understanding at this crazy time, Team Mumbler.

Rising Stars is a playgroup session which welcomes all children who are due to start school the following September. It’s a lovely session where parents and carers don’t stay. Your child is cared for by the pre school Aunties who have a wealth of experience and qualifications in childcare.
The children participate in a variety of activities including baking, forest school, PE (which also helps them practice getting changed independently) and starting to learn phonics. The session ends with everyone eating their packed lunch together. This all helps in their preparation for starting ‘big school’.
Cost £5 per hour or childcare vouchers accepted. Children do not need to attend other pre school sessions to be able to attend. Please phone the pre school on 07982 834159 for more information.
Stamford Bridge Pre School has provided a nurturing caring environment for local children for over 50 years. During this time the pre school has adapted to the changes in family life and routine. Opening for 48 weeks a year with term time contracts available and starting the day at 8am with breakfast club.
Held in Stamford Bridge village hall at the heart of the community, the pre school is a place where children can develop new skills, build upon existing ones and enjoy a varied and wide array of experiences.
In addition to the regular sessions where the children learn through play, practice computer skills and enjoy music and stories we also hold special events and activities throughout the year. These include a Christmas party for the children, Christmas play, sports day, leavers trip, Halloween party and regular crafts (this year the children designed their own Christmas cards).
Our fabulous outdoor space has recently been refurbished and provides an excellent learning space where the children can explore and play in a safe specially designed environment.
Wednesday mornings (8:30-13:00) is our ‘Rising Stars’ session for 3 and 4 year olds the year before they start school. It’s a fantastic session alternating activities such as forest activities, baking and PE sessions along with structured phonics and numeracy activities.
Our well qualified and experienced staff strive daily to provide a community your child will want to attend, learn through a variety of play methods and most importantly have fun!
