Nestled in the beautiful moorland village of Hutton-le-Hole, the Ryedale Folk Museum offers a unique opportunity to
explore the history and heritage of the North York Moors. See our historic buildings, discover our collections and meet our animals.
With a six-acre site and twenty buildings to explore, Ryedale Folk Museum tells the stories of how people have lived, worked and played in our area since pre-history. Enjoy a leisurely wander through the pretty cottage gardens, traditional cornfield and atmospheric historic buildings, the perfect backdrops to display items from our collection in situ. These include an Elizabethan Manor House, Iron Age style Roundhouse, Blacksmith Workshop and even a Witch’s Hovel! Check out our 1950s village store selling traditional sweeties, dress up in the Edwardian Daylight Photography Studio, and don’t forget to visit the rare-breed animals
There’ll be costumed interpreters and family activities to help you make the most of your day. Most visitors spend 2 hours on site and some significantly more. Dogs are welcome on leads and there are designated picnic areas.
