If you fancy a day out over the Easter Holiday we have listed our ‘Top Ten’ ideas which are within easy drive of Ryedale. Hopefully, we will see signs of Spring during the Easter break but if the weather doesn’t play ball we have also included indoor activities.
1. Stockeld Park Easter Adventure
So much to keep the kids entertained this Easter at Stockeld Adventure Park. Join in the Easter Eggsplorer egg hunt and find eggsplorer eggs around the park, all of them are in the form of a famous explorer. Look out for the Easter Bunny in the Enchanted Forest, Roller Rink, Maze and have a go on the Go Karts and Buccaneer Boats. The Stockeld Rangers will also be doing daily Easter craft activities.

2. Yorkshire Museum – Yorkshire’s Jurassic World
Take an epic journey back through 150 million years of Yorkshire to discover lost giants and the changing worlds they inhabited in this brand new major exhibition. 3. Burton Agnes Hall
Easter Trail 30 March 2018 – 8 April 2018
An Easter trail around the magnificent grounds of the Hall, solving clues while exploring the extensive gardens. Once the conundrum has been solved, every child will receive an Easter treat.
There are puzzles to solve and games to play, while in the craft tent children can get creative with colouring. Excitingly, there is a giant golden egg to find, which the Easter Bunny has been hidden somewhere in the grounds!
Easter Egg Hunt
Sunday 1st April and Monday 2nd April, 11am to 5pm
On Easter Sunday and Monday, children are invited to join the Easter Bunny and search for some of the many thousands of chocolate Easter eggs that are hidden in the Hall’s woodland.
The stunning gardens and grounds also offer a magnificent yew tree maze (perfect for letting off steam), giant board games including chess, draughts, quoits, snakes and ladders and hop scotch, while the Children’s Corner is the perfect place to relax and spot butterflies and bees emerging to enjoy the spring flowers.

4. Easter Adventure at Cannon Hall Farm
With a brand new Easter Adventure for 2018 children get to go on a magical adventure and help fix the Easter Bunny’s egg-cellent egg making machine and make the Easter magic work again! Children will visit the Easter Bunny for a photograph and claim a free chocolate egg from the Easter egg machine. (one egg per paying child)
There will also be the usual farm fun such as tractor trailer rides plus sheep and ferret racing, milking demos, shire horse talks and meerkat feeding sessions. If the weather isn’t great you can always shelter in the soft play centre.

5. Mother Shipton’s Cave – Peter Rabbit Easter Adventure
Fun for all the family awaits at Mother Shipton’s cave this Easter!
Hop skip and jump through Mr McGregor’s Marvellous Easter garden. Follow the Mother Shipton’s Easter trail and meet characters from Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit stories. As you walk through magical woodland props and characters will bring the story of the mischievous bunny to life. Actors will be stationed as characters in the park to interact with children and help families complete a themed adventure quiz sheet.

6. The Deep, Egg-cellent Fun!
Spring has sprung at Hull’s award-winning aquarium The Deep, and it’s time to learn about new life in the oceans. Hear about the different eggs laid by some of the most popular residents, including sharks, turtles and penguins.
7. Steampunk Science at Eureka!
Meet the Steampunk Scientists, who will blow your mind with their theatrical science demonstrations going on throughout the museum daily. There will also be special events and demonstrations happening (check website for more details)
Meet the Steampunk Easter Bunny for some egg-citing science experiments. (Fri 30th March – Mon 2nd April.)

9. Easter Adventure Quest at Scarborough Castle and Whitby Abbey
Friday 30 March – Monday 2nd April 2018 11am – 5pm
Calling all valiant adventurers this Easter weekend! Join us on the hunt for legendary dragon eggs at Scarborough Castle or Whitby Abbey. Set off with an intrepid character from the past to crack the clues and claim your chocolate reward.
The quest costs £1 per child (Members and Non-Members) in addition to the normal admission price.

10. Easter at Rotunda Museum
