The wonderful ‘Melody’ TV show as well as the annual Prom on CBeebies has made classical music popular with the Mini Mumblers in our household. It’s referred to as ‘Melody Music’ and often I play it to help the older (4 year old) one to get to sleep on a night. So I know they’d be super excited to go along to this fantastic event which is just on our doorstep. It’s a family friendly event and has fireworks at the end so bound to be a hit with the Mini Mumblers as well as us parents…..
Castle Howard Estate and LPH Concerts are proud to announce that their spectacular classical Proms concert is confirmed for Saturday 19th August and will take place in the magnificent gardens of Castle Howard.
The confirmed guest soloists will be Classical Brit award winners Blake. Renowned for performing classical and pop songs in stunning harmony vocal arrangements, Blake comprises three young men who enthral fans the world over with their amazing singing, hit albums and charismatic stage presence. With over a million albums sold, No. 1 hits in ten countries and nearly 150 TV appearances around the globe, Blake continue to build their reputation as one of today’s most eclectic and exciting classical ‘crossover’ groups.
Joining Blake will be soprano Joanna Forest, whose debut album ‘Stars Are Rising’ went straight to number one in the classical charts, when it was released earlier this year. Joanna is one of the most exciting new British sopranos in the UK right now.
The renowned London Gala Orchestra also join the line up and will be playing popular classics, songs from musicals and Proms favourites including Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Pomp & Circumstance No1, all of which will create a magical evening of music.
“We’re delighted to welcome back the Proms concert to Castle Howard, now in its 27th year it is a firm favourite in our events calendar and an evening not to be missed. The Proms is a great opportunity to bring family and friends together for an open air celebration; bring along picnics, drinks, tables and chairs and set up on the lawn for the perfect summer event.” comments Castle Howard’s marketing manager, Rachel Underwood.
