The Charlie Mortimer Fund are a registered charity based in Swinton. The charity was founded following the unexpected death of Charlie Mortimer in 2009. He was 5 days old.
The charity provide bereavement support for siblings who have lost a brother or sister by means of a book and resource bag; ‘the little star’. They are given out through maternity bereavement suites, neonatal units and children’s hospices throughout the UK.
The resources are given and posted freely and all money is fund raised by the charity.
To date, the fund has raised over £80,000 to support families either;
o living with metabolic illness
o bereaved of their children
o caring for their critically ill child.
The purpose of Charlie’s fund is simple; it is a way of ensuring Charlie’s short life is a living memorial.
Our current focus is disseminating our book ‘The Little Star’ into UK children’s hospices. The books will be part of a resource bag given to bereaved children; a tool to support their grief. (More details here)
This post is to ask if anyone local is able to support our charity auction on 10th August the day before what would have been Charlie’s 10th birthday) by donating an auction lot?
Our aim is that the auction will raise enough to keep the charity’s work continuing for a year.
I would be delighted to hear from you
