Starting with the Hull city centre Christmas lights switch-on! In Queen Victoria Square is Thursday 16th November 2023, here’s the line up –
🎄The lights will be switched on by Hull-born football legend and Former England Women’s Football Captain Dr Carol Thomas, alongside the Lord Mayor, Cllr Kalvin Neal.
🎄Entertainment starts at 5pm, with Hull DJ Darren Lethem playing from Hull City Hall balcony
🎄Hull’s State of the Arts Academy will be providing local talent with vocalists singing Christmas songs from 5:30pm.
🎄Dr Carol Thomas and Lord Mayor will be joined by a special guest from the North Pole to switch on the lights at 6:45pm.
🎄The light switch-on will include a firework display (weather dependent) over Queen Victoria Square as well as a festive lighting display. The square will come alive with light and sound installations and a A 50 ft spruce will form the centrepiece.
Next up is the Santa Arrival Parade! A tradition that signals the start of Christmas in the city, is all set to enchant young and old alike on Sunday 19th November 2023. Hull New Theatre is the starting point of this magical journey at 11:15am. The city, in partnership with Hull Bid, is rolling out the red (and green) carpet for the man in the big red suit. The streets of Hull will transform into a merry spectacle, as the parade takes a winding path through the heart of the city, bringing with it a sleigh-load of joy. The parade will wind through the city centre ending in Queen Victoria Square where Santa will then go into Princes Quay to take up residence in his grotto there until Christmas Eve.
