This year (2022), Castle Howard, presents “Into the Woods: A Fairytale Christmas” as each room has been transformed into a well known fairytale. We went as a family and we certainly left feeling Christmassy having thoroughly enjoyed it. Each room is AMAZING and the kids loved talking about the different fairytales as we made our way round the house. The installations are fantastic with brilliant attention to detail. Do remember to look for the little animals in both Lady Georgiana’s room and dressing room. Ask, “Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Fairest of them All?” before wandering through the enchanted forest. The dining room was my favorite – no pressure to jazz up your Christmas tables! The Three Bears house was a big talking point too! We loved the variation of the theme and that it was all brought together in the Long Gallery with Prince Charming’s ball. Another wonderful projected light show awaits!
The installation was created by Charlotte Lloyd Webber Event Design with the projected light show by The Projection Studio.
We all voted “The Christmas Tree” as the best yet. It looked truly magnificent.
All in all, this is a lovely Christmas event to do as a family, perfect to involve the grandparents too! Maybe tie in with a run in Wray Wood and a visit to Skelf Island. Any time of day, the house will look lovely but it will look particularly special at twilight or after dark. We visited at 3.30pm and the lights were twinkling as we made our way round.
Ticket prices will vary subject to whether you choose to book on a peak or off-peak date. Please take note of whether your desired date is peak or off-peak from the calendar when making your booking.
