The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May, 2023.
On Sunday, 7th May 2023, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle by the BBC. The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country on the same date.
On Monday, 8th May 2023, members of the public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.
We’ve put together a handy list of events going on locally in the Ryedale area:
Pickering – Coronation Picnic in the Park, 7th May 2023, 11am – 3pm. Bring a picnic and camping chairs and enjoy this community day with lots of entertainment and competitions all day.
Hutton-Le-Hole – Coronation Duck Race, Craft Fair and The Big Lunch, 7th May 2023, 10am – 4pm. Craft Fair starts at 10am, and the Duck Race is at 3pm. Each duck is just £1 to sponsor (if you would like to sponsor one please get in touch). Bring your family & friends, picnic alongside our picturesque beck.
Thirsk Racecourse – Coronation Celebration Day, 6th May 2023, 10.30am. It’s a family affair with a range of activities for the children and a live screening of the Coronation ceremony before racing. Dine in one of our restaurants or bring a picnic with the family, we have something for everyone! Gates open at 10.30am with the 1st race at 1.35pm
Norton Hive Community Library Coronation Celebration, 8th May 2023, 10am – 12pm. Plant some sunflowers and enter a competition to see who’s grows the tallest. Other seeds will be provided for children to take home and plant. Children are also encouraged to bake and bring in to share at the event.
Sledmere House – The Coronation Big Lunch, 7th May 2023, 10am – 5pm. Join us for our Sledmere Coronation Party as part of The Coronation Big Lunch. Bring your own picnic, or pre-order a delicious Picnic Hamper from The Coach House Cafe.
Competitions and Games including: Best Dressed Coronation Outfit, Best Decorated Children’s Crown, Most Royal Looking Dog and Best Dressed Coronation Cake (Entries are £2 for as many competitions as you wish to enter, with entry fees donated to the Alzheimer’s Society) Fantastic prizes to be won including special Sledmere Experience Days, as well as a very special celebrity Prizegiver!

Nunnington Hall – Coronation Celebrations, 1st – 8th May 2023, 10.30am – 5pm. To celebrate the Coronation, Nunnington Hall will be flying the Union Flag. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn and have some fun with the garden games. Families can make flags together to take home to celebrate.

Burnby Hall – Coronation Bank Holiday Wonderland Adventure, 8th May 2023, 10.30am – 3pm. Outdoor performance walk hosted by larger than life characters! Lasts approx. 45 mins. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Dalby Forest – Coronation Weekend, 6th to 8th May 2023, 9am – 5.30pm. Family friendly activites galore at Dalby Forest over the Coronation weekend. Activities include lawn games, forest crafts workshops, sceptre making and bunting decoration. We also have a Coronation quiz trail and a Quest for the missing crown jewels trail with sweet treat prizes. These are all free activities for everyone to enjoy!
The Yorkshire Aboretum – Make Your Own Crown, 7th & 8th May 2023, 10am – 4pm. To celebrate the coronation the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, younger visitors will have the opportunity to create a crown from leaves and other natural treasures collected in the arboretum.
Murton Park – Coronation Celebrations, 6th – 8th May 2023. Watch the King’s Coronation in the Barn, crafts, Royal Trail, Morris Dancers and all the usual entertainment for the kids.
Flamingo Land – Coronation Weekend, 6th, 7th & 8th May 2023, 10am – 5pm. Are you named Charles or Camilla…? Flamingo Land is inviting anyone sharing a first name with their Majesties to visit for free. Just bring along a valid photo ID showing the first name of Charles or Camilla.
Piglets Adventure Farm – Come and take a bow or curtsy and capture your own photos with the fabulous new Bale Sculpture of Charles and Camilla, created in celebration of the King’s Coronation, when you visit us this Bank Holiday weekend!
Monk Park Farm – Our ROYAL GUINEAPIGESSES will be officially getting Coronated this weekend during our Right Royal Celebration.
Highfield Coronation Family Fun Day, Driffield – 6th May 2023, 11am – 6pm. Live music, lawn games, strawberries and cream, coronation screening. £6 per person, proceeds go to Emily Star’s Childrens Charity.
